I bet you hate that feeling when you hear a professional music producer bragging about how they made their hit song in just a few days—or even hours—while you sit in your studio refining your next masterpiece for weeks or months. After all that effort, the reply you get from labels, if any, often sounds like: “Great track, but we unfortunately have to pass,” or “We love your productions, but it doesn’t fit our label!”
Yes, it hurts. To be completely honest, this has happened to me countless times. But over the years, I’ve discovered several hacks to overcome this frustration, and I want to share them with you over the coming weeks. By following these tips, you’ll speed up your workflow significantly and increase your chances of getting signed by the label of your dreams!

What’s the best way to kick off this blog series? Let’s start by reclaiming your time and learning how to complete tracks within hours or days, instead of struggling endlessly without reaching a finish line.
I’ve outlined a few simple yet powerful steps for you. If you follow them, I guarantee your productivity and workflow will increase dramatically:
- Set your intention and lay down your ideas
- Start with track construction
- When it sounds good, it is good!
- The 1-day rule vs. the 14-day rule
- Things to avoid on the first day of production
- Learn when to stop (avoid overproduction)
- There are no failures, only learning experiences!
We’ll dive deep into each of these points in the upcoming weeks. Today, let’s start with the first essential step.
Set Your Intention and Lay Down Your Ideas
When I get inspired and sit down in my studio to start a new track, I always start with something I call “intention.” My intention is clear: create a track, complete it today, and let the creative process flow naturally. I stay committed until I feel confident my core idea is fully captured.
It’s crucial to put down as much of your idea as possible on the first day. Here’s why: every day is unique. Today, you woke up feeling a certain way. Maybe you saw something funny or upsetting on social media. What’s important isn’t what happened, but the fact that this exact combination of mood, energy, feelings, and even weather will never occur again. These unique elements profoundly influence your creative output.
Flow state is very real—and incredibly powerful. Aim to stay in this state as long as possible, letting your creativity guide you. Don’t get caught up in technical details like whether your mix is perfect or if your kick is in key. There will be a time and place for polishing your track. Today is purely about bringing your idea to life. Your music has the potential to deeply impact someone’s life—bringing happiness, comfort during difficult times, or even becoming the soundtrack for someone’s special moment, like walking down the aisle.
From personal experience, I know my most successful and beloved tracks were created exactly this way. My focus wasn’t on technical perfection; it was purely on the joy of creation. Take, for example, my track “All There Is,” featured on my debut album IAMREADY. Ironically, it was the last track I created for the album. Black Hole Recordings, the label releasing my album, requested one final track to wrap things up. I sat down around 1 PM, and by 5 PM, the track was finished. And guess what?
Thanks to that spontaneous, heartfelt track, I was later asked to remix Armin van Buuren’s “Lonely For You,” which he played at major events for months, ultimately leading me to sign with Armada Music as an exclusive artist!
In just those four hours, my musical career transformed dramatically!
Looking at Spotify analytics, it’s clear—the tracks I made quickly and passionately garnered the most streams. Conversely, those I painstakingly crafted for weeks barely reached significant recognition.
To summarize: once inspiration strikes, set your clear intention, dedicate your first day to fully exploring your idea, and most importantly, have fun doing it. Allow curiosity and passion to drive your creativity and embrace the powerful state of flow.
That’s it for this week! Next time, we’ll cover step two: Track Construction—how to quickly build a solid foundation and rapidly turn your ideas into fully realized tracks.
