Thanks for helping test the next version of ReVision. Your invitation unlocks PHASE and SIDECHAIN for 30 days from your first activation, on up to two computers. Activating again or adding a second computer does not restart the 30 days.

Use a copy of your project for testing. This is pre-release software. Keep your stable ReVision installed for your regular work.

Download for your computer

Download macOS beta.73 — AU and VST3
ZIP containing a signed and Apple-notarized universal installer for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. Includes AU and VST3.

Download Windows beta.69 — x64 VST3
ZIP containing the Windows installer. Includes the x64 VST3 plugin for a compatible 64-bit DAW. This installer is not digitally signed, so Windows may display “Unknown publisher.” Please include your Windows version and DAW when reporting installation, activation or audio issues.

The builds differ: continuous FOLLOW, its LOOKAHEAD mode and the new fixes below are in macOS beta.73. Windows remains on beta.69 and does not include these additions. The setup, activation and core PHASE/SIDECHAIN guide below applies to both, except where a Mac-only feature is labelled.

What’s new in macOS beta.73

  • Experimental continuous FOLLOW: with LOOKAHEAD enabled, it keeps measuring the kick and bass before ducking and adjusts their low-end phase relationship when a reliable correction is available. Your chosen manual DELAY stays fixed.
  • Clear automatic controls: manual delay, phase, polarity, ANALYZE and BLEND controls are locked during FOLLOW. The phase controls show the correction currently playing. Your saved manual settings return after FOLLOW switches off safely.
  • Longer measurement time: FOLLOW + LOOKAHEAD has a nominal reported latency of 384 ms. Very large DAW buffers can increase it; LOW with LINEAR PHASE adds its own 512 samples. See the FOLLOW guide below before testing.
  • ReChain LIVE onset fix: addresses reproduced cases where the ringing body of one kick caused a second duck trigger. Regression tests also cover genuine closely spaced hits and ghost notes.
  • Smoother AUTO makeup: AUTO now eases in its first level adjustment and returns smoothly toward normal level when switched off. AUTO still changes level and can raise peaks.
  • Shared SYNC control: the same global grid offset can be adjusted from either module, including while FOLLOW is enabled. It affects the scope and GRID duck timing; it does not retime AUDIO/LIVE detection or perform phase correction.

Testing status: automated checks have passed, but listening in your own DAW is essential. This experimental beta does not guarantee perfect phase alignment or artifact-free results on every sound or host.

Features already available in Windows beta.69

  • A3 hardware interface: a purple PHASE module and a black/grey metal SIDECHAIN module with orange controls and a black waveform background make the two sections easy to distinguish.
  • Clear, aligned controls: consistent dial sizes, readable scales, separated status and PRE/POST controls, and SHAPE beside LIVE.
  • LOW settings below the waveform: enable LOW, then open LOW SETTINGS for the filter controls, MIN PHASE / LINEAR PHASE and MONO BELOW.
  • Accurate monitoring: the GRID display follows your selected time window, phase metering updates continuously, and PRE/POST analysis uses the signal before/after SIDECHAIN processing.
  • Background phase analysis and update checks: analysis runs in the background, and beta.69 enables checks for future beta releases.

Updating an existing beta: close your DAW, install the build for your computer, reopen the DAW and check the footer version: v2.0.0-beta.73 on macOS or v2.0.0-beta.69 on Windows. Your existing beta activation and original expiry are preserved. Updating does not start a new 30-day period. If you have not activated yet, use your original personal invitation; you do not need a replacement just to install an update.

Older saved LIVE instances keep their HOLD/RELEASE values, automation and original release minimum, while using the corrected timing introduced in beta.69. Their sound may change where the old kick tail extended the duck: compare an updated copy of your project before replacing a finished mix.

Install your platform’s update manually. Older builds cannot show update notices. Beta.69 and later provide UPDATES → Check for updates now in the plugin. Automatic checks can be switched off in that menu. Downloads and installation remain manual; an update notice does not mean the other platform has the same build or features.

Install and activate

  1. Extract the downloaded ZIP. Close your DAW, run the installer for your computer, then reopen the DAW and rescan plugins if needed. Load ReVision Beta 2, not stable ReVision or ReVision Beta EQ.
  2. Check the plugin footer: v2.0.0-beta.73 on macOS, v2.0.0-beta.69 on Windows. On macOS, an older Beta 2 copy in your user plugin folder may hide the new system-wide copy. If you still see an older version, ask for help before deleting anything.
  3. If your existing beta is already activated, check that the remaining days are shown and continue using it. If activation is needed, start it from the plugin and open the website using its activation link. Keep the plugin window open.
  4. Sign in with your existing Ready for Masterclass account. If you already have an account, use that same email; use Forgot password if needed. New testers can use the account-creation form on the activation page.
  5. Confirm that the website’s activation code matches the code currently shown in your plugin. If this is your account’s first beta activation, enter the original separate invitation code sent to you, then activate. For an account with existing beta access, continue with that same account. Never approve a code that does not match your own plugin.
  6. Return to your DAW. The plugin should unlock and show the remaining beta days. Save and reopen a test project to check that activation and settings are retained.

Your invitation is personal and is used once to start your account’s beta access. For your second computer, sign into the same account. When the beta expires, ReVision Beta 2 passes audio through and its processing stops; stable ReVision remains separate.

Two codes, two jobs: the personal RVB-… invitation admits you to the beta. The short activation code generated by your plugin pairs your computer. Do not share either code publicly. No purchase or checkout is needed for this invitation flow.

1. Understand the two modules

PHASE helps you inspect and adjust the timing, polarity and frequency-dependent phase relationship between two signals. SIDECHAIN turns the bass down around the kick so they have space. They solve different problems: start with the relationship between the sounds, then add only as much ducking as the groove needs.

Route a kick and bass

Bass track → ReVision Beta 2 → your mix
Kick track → ReVision’s external sidechain input
The kick also keeps its normal route to your mix.
  1. Choose a short loop containing both kick and bass. Insert ReVision Beta 2 on the bass track or bass bus you want to process.
  2. In your DAW’s external-sidechain routing for that instance, select the kick track as the source. The exact selector depends on your DAW and plugin format. This is an audio sidechain, not a MIDI connection.
  3. Keep the kick audible through its normal mixer path. ReVision processes the bass; routing the kick into its sidechain does not replace the kick’s normal output.
  4. Start playback. Look for SIDECHAIN ACTIVE and a moving kick waveform. If you see NO SIDECHAIN, fix routing before trying analysis, AUDIO, LIVE or FOLLOW.

For a clear first test, use a simple repeated kick and bass phrase. Keep listening to both together. Soloing or muting tracks can also silence a DAW’s sidechain feed, depending on its routing.

2. Align the low end in PHASE

  1. Open PHASE. Start with the SIDECHAIN ducking module off so you can hear the phase changes clearly. On Mac beta.73, leave FOLLOW off for these manual steps.
  2. Set the scope’s GRID to 1/4 for one beat and VIEW to Separate. Purple is the main signal; orange is the kick reference. While SIDECHAIN processing is enabled, use PRE for alignment before ducking. PRE/POST is hidden when processing is off.
  3. For an assisted starting point, click ANALYZE while the loop plays. It collects audio and proposes alignment settings. Click APPLY to use the suggestion or CANCEL to discard it. Listen afterward; a suggested setting is not a guarantee of a better mix.
  4. For manual adjustment, compare the polarity button Ø on and off, then make small DELAY changes. If needed, enable φ and adjust its frequency for a different phase relationship around the troublesome low-frequency region.
  5. Compare against your original setting at a similar perceived level. Check several bass notes and the whole phrase, not just one kick hit. Save when the kick stays clear and the bass feels consistent.

PHASE controls explained

  • GRID: the oscilloscope’s time window. A shorter division reveals transient detail; 1 Bar shows more of the pattern. This is different from SIDECHAIN’s RATE.
  • VIEW: Separate overlays the signals; Combined shows their sum; Phase Delta uses green/red to help reveal their relationship. These are display choices.
  • DELAY: shifts the main signal relative to the reference, within ±10 ms. Hold Shift while dragging for finer adjustment; double-click to reset to zero. Large shifts can change the feel of the groove. FOLLOW on Mac locks this manual value and keeps it fixed.
  • Ø: reverses the main signal’s polarity. Compare both positions in context rather than assuming one is always right.
  • φ / phase frequency: applies an all-pass phase rotation. It changes the phase relationship around a frequency rather than acting like an EQ boost. Double-click the frequency control to return to 100 Hz.
  • PRE / POST: PRE shows the aligned bass before ducking; POST shows the output after ducking. This changes the scope, alignment readout and manual analysis tap. Mac FOLLOW measures before ducking independently of this display choice.
  • Alignment readout: a diagnostic guide to low-end coherence. A higher number alone does not prove a better sound. Different notes and kick tails can favour different settings; your listening decision comes first.

Continuous FOLLOW — macOS beta.73 only

ANALYZE remains the one-time assistant for manual alignment. It proposes settings for the audio you measured; it cannot keep adapting to later notes or different oscillator start phases. FOLLOW enables ongoing measurement and automatic correction. LOOKAHEAD gives it time to measure incoming audio before you hear it. They have different jobs.

For changing or rolling bass, test FOLLOW + LOOKAHEAD. This experimental mode measures the original kick and bass before ReChain ducking and evaluates low-end phase corrections. It can change all-pass phase rotation and polarity while leaving your chosen manual DELAY fixed. It carries an accepted correction forward and holds it when a new measurement is not reliable enough. It does not promise that every bass note, transient or frequency will align perfectly.

An active all-pass button during FOLLOW can be correct. It shows the automatic correction currently playing, rather than an extra forgotten manual filter. While acquiring the first correction, your saved manual all-pass can still be active. The phase controls show accepted audible settings, not a pending measurement.

During FOLLOW, DELAY, phase frequency, all-pass, polarity, ANALYZE and BLEND are locked so manual changes do not compete with automatic correction. Switching FOLLOW off requests a safe return to your saved manual settings. The controls stay locked while the status says Restoring, then become available when manual processing is active again. FOLLOW does not overwrite those saved manual settings. If your manual all-pass was enabled, it will be enabled again after the return.

Latency: FOLLOW + LOOKAHEAD normally reports 384 ms. Very large DAW buffers may require more. LOW with LINEAR PHASE adds 512 samples. Hover over the FOLLOW status to see the current reported latency. Your DAW can use the reported value for delay compensation, but monitoring a live instrument through the plugin will still feel delayed. Check compensation in your own project.

With LOOKAHEAD off, FOLLOW retains more conservative tracking at lower latency. The new continuous-correction results apply to FOLLOW + LOOKAHEAD. Change LOOKAHEAD with playback stopped and the input silent; a request made during playback can wait for a safe state. FOLLOW continues measuring with the plugin window closed, and its measurement does not depend on whether you view PRE or POST.

  • Acquiring: gathering a usable measurement.
  • Following: using an accepted correction.
  • Holding: keeping the last stable correction; this does not mean every current note is perfectly aligned.
  • Restoring: returning safely to the saved manual settings after FOLLOW is switched off.

Compare FOLLOW off/on on the same phrase, first with ducking off and then with it on. Listen for clicks, changing attack, stereo changes and raised peaks, as well as bass consistency. Automatic phase changes can alter peaks and short-term energy. If a result is worse, switch FOLLOW off and report the material and settings; the beta has no guarantee of artifact-free operation.

3. Make room for the kick in SIDECHAIN

Open SIDECHAIN. The ON switch enables ducking; selecting a trigger mode also enables the module. MIX controls its strength. Start modestly, then raise it until the kick has room without making the bass disappear for too long.

Choose the right mode

  • GRID — regular rhythmic pumping. Repeats your curve on the DAW’s musical grid at the chosen RATE. Try 1/4 for a four-on-the-floor rhythm. Because it follows the grid, it can keep pumping even where no kick plays.
  • AUDIO — your curve triggered by kick hits. Uses incoming kick hits to retrigger the drawn shape. Choose this when the kick pattern has gaps or variations but you want a consistent duck shape. A working kick sidechain feed is essential.
  • LIVE — kick-triggered ducking with a timed return. Each detected kick onset triggers a duck, followed by the HOLD and RELEASE you set. The kick’s tail cannot prolong the hold. Use MIX for strength and the controls below the waveform for timing and recovery shape. RATE does not set LIVE’s recovery duration.

A simple first duck

  1. With kick routing confirmed, choose AUDIO and set RATE to 1/4.
  2. Load a factory curve from the preset tiles, or press LEARN KICK during playback to capture a kick-derived starting shape.
  3. Adjust MIX. Watch the KICK, IN and OUT lanes to compare the kick, bass before ducking and bass after ducking.
  4. Shape the return so the bass fills back in naturally before the next important hit. Too long a dip can make the bass feel weak; too short a return can sound abrupt.
  5. Try LIVE on the same loop and compare. Pick the behaviour that suits the track, then check a breakdown and a busier section.

Edit your own curve in GRID or AUDIO

The horizontal axis is one duck cycle. The vertical position represents how much bass remains: a low point cuts more, a high point lets more through. At 100% MIX, a curve at the bottom fully cuts the processed signal; lower MIX blends some unaffected signal back in.

  • Click empty space to add a point; drag a point to move it.
  • Drag the small handle between points to bend the segment. Double-click the handle to straighten it.
  • Double-click or right-click a point to remove it.
  • Use SNAP for grid-aligned edits; hold Shift while dragging for unsnapped positioning.
  • UNDO steps back through curve edits, preset loads and learning. Cmd/Ctrl+Z is also supported in the plugin.

LEARN KICK captures and stores a starting shape from the playing kick. GRID and AUDIO play that curve; LIVE can use the learned or edited shape through KICK SHAPE, fitting it into your RELEASE time. The stored shape does not continuously relearn itself: learn again if you want a new kick to provide the shape.

4. Set the bass return in LIVE

Choose LIVE in SIDECHAIN. The SHAPE button beside LIVE shows or hides the timing strip below the waveform. SHAPE is available only in LIVE; GRID and AUDIO use the editable curve. Start with a simple kick-and-bass loop, then adjust while listening to the whole groove.

  • HOLD: extra time to keep the bass ducked before recovery begins. At 0 ms there is no extra hold. The length of the kick tail does not extend this setting.
  • RELEASE: the actual time to return to full bass after HOLD. In new instances, 0–1 ms uses a 2 ms recovery to avoid clicks. Older saved instances retain their original 10 ms minimum and automation.
  • ATTACK: the fade down before the kick, using lookahead. The default is 2 ms; settings below 1 ms use a 1 ms safety minimum.
  • KICK SHAPE: 0% gives a smooth recovery; 100% uses your learned or edited shape fitted to the RELEASE duration. Values between them blend the two recovery shapes. Use LEARN KICK to capture a shape, then adjust KICK SHAPE by ear.
  • Full bass by 1/8: fits HOLD plus RELEASE into one eighth note at the current tempo. The release control is disabled while this is on, and the strip shows the effective times. Long holds are limited to leave at least 2 ms for recovery.

For example, with Full bass by 1/8 off, HOLD at 20 ms and RELEASE at 100 ms means 20 ms held down followed by a 100 ms return. A longer kick tail does not add extra hold. A new detected kick can trigger another duck.

New instances start at HOLD 0 ms, RELEASE 150 ms, ATTACK 2 ms and KICK SHAPE 55%. Older projects retain their saved HOLD/RELEASE settings; beta.69 and later apply the corrected timing without asking you to select another LIVE mode.

Open report — Gallop preset → LIVE: a reported unexpected transition from Gallop to LIVE is under investigation. KICK SHAPE intentionally retains influence from the stored curve above 0%; LIVE does not clear that curve. A literal repeating Gallop pattern in active LIVE ducking has not been confirmed, and the report has not yet been separated into visible-curve and audio behaviour. No fix is claimed. If you reproduce unexpected behaviour, include the preset, KICK SHAPE setting, a screen recording and an audio example.

5. Advanced controls and useful shortcuts

Keep upper bass harmonics with LOW

Enable LOW when you want to duck the low-frequency region while leaving higher harmonics more present. Then click LOW SETTINGS to open the controls below the waveform: LOW PASS (band high edge), HIGH PASS (band low edge) and the filter mode. The 180 Hz crossover default is a starting point, not a rule.

Raising HP leaves the deepest sub outside the ducked band; at its minimum the HP edge is bypassed. MIN PHASE is the default split. LINEAR PHASE avoids the split’s phase rotation but adds latency reported to the DAW. Compare by ear after changing the split.

MONO BELOW makes the low-frequency region mono. Enable it and use its separate frequency dial to choose the cutoff. Listen for changes when the source has stereo low-frequency content.

Compare LIVE with a drawn cycle

GRID and AUDIO use RATE to set the drawn cycle’s length. LIVE uses HOLD and RELEASE instead. To hear more of your learned or edited shape in LIVE, raise KICK SHAPE; shorten or lengthen RELEASE to change when the bass returns. See the open Gallop-to-LIVE report above when testing a preset change.

Timing, level and one-click assistance

  • SYNC: an offset for the beat grid, useful when the kick and grid appear displaced by processing latency. Positive values move the scope grid and grid-triggered duck earlier. Start at zero. It does not retime AUDIO/LIVE kick detection and is separate from PHASE DELAY. On Mac beta.73, SYNC is one global value shared by all modules, adjustable from either module in every mode. Its timing effect still applies to the scope/grid, not automatic phase correction. Windows beta.69 retains its existing SYNC controls.
  • AUTO: automatic bass-level adjustment relative to the kick. Treat it as a level-changing option and compare on/off at similar loudness. Leave it off while learning the basic controls. Mac beta.73 smooths the first target and the return to unity when disabled; allow headroom for level increases.
  • BLEND: combines phase analysis/application with learning a kick curve. Let a representative loop play for several bars before using it. It changes more than the curve, so compare the resulting alignment and ducking deliberately; curve UNDO is not a promise to restore every BLEND change. On Mac beta.73, turn FOLLOW off and wait for manual controls before using BLEND or ANALYZE.
  • KICK / IN / OUT: show or hide waveform lanes; hiding a lane does not mute its audio.

Save a reusable curve

Use SAVE to name a curve and LOAD to open the library. Star presets for quick-access tiles; right-click a tile for its management options. This is a curve library, not a substitute for saving your DAW project. The project also holds plugin settings and automation. After saving, reopen your test project and check that the result is retained.

For short explanations inside the plugin, hover over controls and read the footer, or open ? for help. This page covers macOS beta.73 and Windows beta.69; follow the platform labels for newer features. Screenshots or instructions from other builds may use different labels.

6. Troubleshooting

  • The plugin is missing: restart/rescan your DAW and enable its system VST3 location (or Audio Units on macOS). Windows installs to C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\ReVision Beta 2.vst3. macOS installs under /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/. Windows needs an x64-compatible host; no 32-bit VST2 is included.
  • NO SIDECHAIN / no kick waveform: check that the kick is playing and selected in the host’s external-sidechain input for this exact plugin instance. Do not add a second audible kick route to the master just to feed the detector.
  • No ducking: confirm beta activation, SIDECHAIN ON and MIX above zero. AUDIO and LIVE need the kick input. GRID needs host transport/tempo. In GRID and AUDIO, a flat curve at full height will not create a dip.
  • Drawing has little or no effect: GRID and AUDIO play the edited curve directly. In LIVE, increase KICK SHAPE to hear more of the learned or edited shape, which is fitted into RELEASE. At 0% KICK SHAPE, LIVE uses smooth recovery. Stored-curve influence above 0% is intentional; the reported unexpected Gallop-to-LIVE transition is still under investigation.
  • Mac phase controls cannot be adjusted: FOLLOW locks manual controls. Switch FOLLOW off and wait for Restoring to finish. An active all-pass indicator can represent the current automatic correction or your saved manual setting; it is not evidence by itself of a fault.
  • Mac FOLLOW is Holding or not keeping up: check the kick sidechain, then compare FOLLOW + LOOKAHEAD with FOLLOW off on the same phrase. Holding keeps a stable correction when another is not accepted. Send the bass and kick example, mode, sample rate and buffer size; do not judge the result from the meter alone.
  • Mac LOOKAHEAD change is waiting: stop playback and make the input silent so the latency change can complete. Check the reported latency by hovering over the FOLLOW status.
  • RELEASE cannot be adjusted: turn off Full bass by 1/8 for manual release timing. With it on, the tempo and HOLD determine the effective release shown in the strip.
  • Bass becomes too quiet: reduce MIX, shorten the drawn dip, or try LOW to keep upper harmonics present. Check AUTO separately.
  • Activation code expired or browser did not open: start activation again from the plugin and use the new link/code. Keep the plugin open. Never reuse a pairing link sent by someone else.
  • Account already exists: sign into that account or use Forgot password rather than creating another account under a different email.
  • Machine limit reached: contact us to release an old device. Reinstalling Windows or changing hardware can make a computer count as a new device.

What to test

  • Plugin scanning, opening, closing and reopening. Confirm the footer version separately: Mac beta.73 or Windows beta.69.
  • PHASE and SIDECHAIN controls, the LIVE strip below the waveform, and automation.
  • Mac beta.73: compare FOLLOW off/on with LOOKAHEAD on, both with ReChain off and with it on. Use changing notes and oscillator start phases. Check fixed DELAY, return to manual settings, clicks, attacks, stereo and peaks.
  • Mac beta.73: test a single kick with a ringing body, genuine close hits and ghost notes in LIVE. Compare AUTO on/off while listening for abrupt level changes.
  • LIVE with short and long kick tails: HOLD and RELEASE should control the return. Compare KICK SHAPE at 0% and 100%, and try Full bass by 1/8 at different tempos. Include the Gallop-to-LIVE transition when reporting curve behaviour.
  • Older saved projects: confirm settings and automation remain, and listen to the corrected LIVE recovery.
  • Playback, your DAW’s plugin bypass, stopping and restarting transport, and your usual sample rate and buffer size.
  • Saving and reopening a project, including settings and activation.

Send feedback

Click SEND FEEDBACK in the plugin, or open the ReVision beta feedback form in your browser. The plugin button prefills only your build version, operating system, DAW and plugin format. Opening it does not submit a report; check the details, describe the issue and submit the form yourself.

Tell us what you did, what you expected and what happened. Include steps we can repeat, your sample rate and buffer size, and whether the issue occurs in a new project or an older saved one. For Mac FOLLOW reports, include FOLLOW, LOOKAHEAD and ReChain settings and the reported latency. Check the prefilled details and add your DAW version or computer/processor details if needed.

For screenshots or short recordings, email info@readyformasterclass.com. Include Mac beta.73 or Windows beta.69 in the subject, and use the same email and a matching description so we can connect it to your form report. You can also reply to the person who sent your invitation. Please do not include passwords, invitation codes or private customer information.

If there is a crash or unexpected audio, stop the test and return to your saved project copy. Report the steps that triggered it.
